Jonathan McGee

I'm running for Secretary of the Libertarian National Committee for two reasons: Because it's a position that requires meticulous, principled leadership; and because this party deserves officers who will get the work done correctly, consistently, and honestly. I've demonstrated the necessary skills, discipline, and experience required to be a successful Secretary through my service to the LNC. This is not about titles or visibility. It's about accuracy, organization, accountability, and preserving the institutional knowledge of the party so that the LNC is able to function effectively and transparently.

I'm currently serving on the LNC Ethics Committee as Chair, during which time I wrote the current LNC Behavioral Standards, located within the LNC Policy Manual. In doing so, I required patience and a keen understanding of how policy impacts the culture of our National Committee. I also serve on the LNC Litigation Committee, another position which demands a thorough understanding of procedure and detail and a sober and serious handling of contentious issues.

My work in the party extends beyond the procedural. I personally contribute $100 monthly to the Historical Preservation Committee in order to support the retention of valuable documentation concerning the history and growth of this party. In 2022 as Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Alabama, I helped secure statewide ballot access for the first time in over twenty years and supported the rapid recruitment of over sixty candidates, helping them launch and run credible campaigns.I've shown under pressure that I'm capable of making the hard decisions that are needed of an LNC officer, and that I am able to stand behind the decisions I make. I've been targeted with harassment, personal threats and threats to my employment based on my decisions in this party, and I have not been deterred; this has not and will not deter me in the future.

This party requires officers that are steadfast, serious, and are willing to serve even when it's difficult and when there is pressure to bend to the will of a few individuals. I am asking for your support for LNC Secretary because I will bring accuracy, professionalism, institutional knowledge, and the courage to lead with principle. I would be honored to earn your vote and the opportunity to continue serving this party at the national level.
